Magic Books ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Magic Books website and personalized children's book creation service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. By using our service you agree to the practices described here.

Because our service involves uploading photos of children, we take privacy especially seriously. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

Information you provide directly:

• Name and email address (required to process your order and deliver your book)
• Payment details — card number, expiry, and CVC (processed in-session only; we do not store raw card data)
• Photos of your child that you upload for personalization
• Story preferences: theme, age, favorites, and special requests
• Password, if you choose to create an account

Information collected automatically:

• Basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) retained for up to 30 days for security purposes
• Session data necessary to maintain your workflow across steps

• Generate your personalized illustrated book using AI (Google Gemini)
• Process payment and send your order confirmation
• Store your completed book PDF for re-download during your subscription period (6 months by default)
• Respond to support enquiries
• Detect and prevent fraud or misuse of the service

We do not use your information or your child's photos to train AI models, for advertising, or for any purpose beyond delivering your order.

Our service is intended for parents and guardians who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Photos you upload of your child are used solely to create and personalise your book. They are retained for up to 14 days so we can regenerate your book if the process fails, after which they are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers. Completed book PDFs are stored only if you request account-based storage, and only for the duration of your storage period.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child without parental consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@magicbooks.ai and we will delete it promptly.

Book illustrations and stories are generated using Google's Gemini API. Your input data (story preferences and character photos) is transmitted to Google's servers for this purpose. Google's use of this data is governed by their API Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum. We do not permit Google to use your data for purposes beyond processing your immediate request.

We do not share your personal information with any other third parties except where required by law.

• Uploaded photos are retained for up to 14 days (so a failed book can be regenerated without re-uploading), then automatically and permanently deleted
• Completed PDFs are retained for 6 months if you have an account, then automatically deleted
• Order records (name, email, amount paid) are retained for 3 years for legal and accounting purposes
• You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing privacy@magicbooks.ai

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working — they maintain your book-creation progress across steps and your sign-in session. These are always active and cannot be turned off.

With your consent, we also use analytics and marketing cookies to understand how visitors use our book-creation flow (for example, which step people stop at) so we can improve the experience and show relevant offers. These set a first-party identifier and record only your funnel activity and, where you provide it, your email address — never your child's photos, names, or story content. We may use this to build remarketing audiences or send win-back offers.

You choose whether to allow analytics and marketing cookies via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. Declining does not affect your ability to create a book, and you can clear cookies in your browser at any time. We do not sell your data.

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmitted to and from our service. Stored data is encrypted at rest. Despite these measures, no internet transmission is 100% secure — you use the service at your own risk.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@magicbooks.ai. We will respond within 30 days.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
